Melbourne to Singapore: Airport Highlights, Clarke Quay Stroll, Merlion Night View—A Fun Transit Day
Today marks the transition from Australia to Singapore. Despite the extended flight time, the journey felt seamless and full of excitement!
From Melbourne → Changi Airport Highlights → Non-stop Food Adventures → Riverside Night Views, this day offered a perfect blend of relaxation and exotic charm, seamlessly connecting Australia's natural beauty with Singapore's modern urban vibe.
✈️ Melbourne → Singapore | Flying with Singapore Airlines
We started the day early in Melbourne, flying with the excellent Singapore Airlines.
The onboard service was meticulous, the meals were delightful, and the kids enjoyed movies and games, making the medium-long flight pass by quickly.
Parent Tip: Download some children's games or animations beforehand. Even if the plane lacks Wi-Fi, the kids won't get bored.
🌟 Arrival at Jewel Changi Airport: A World-Class Airport Highlight!
Upon landing, we headed straight to the dreamy Jewel Changi Airport!
This globally renowned airport shopping and leisure hub is truly a paradise for families. Of course, we couldn't miss its main attraction—the indoor waterfall Rain Vortex, with a 40-meter water column cascading from above, prompting us to snap countless photos.
🌳 Other highlights include:
- Massive indoor gardens and trails
- LEGO specialty store, candy shops, and robotic drink stands
- Circular trails and maze game areas (great for older kids)
📸 Tip: Plan 2-3 hours to explore Jewel in advance, or you might lose track of time!
🍲 Song Fa Bak Kut Teh | The First Taste of Singapore
After arriving downtown, our first stop was Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, where we savored Singapore's most iconic flavor.
The peppery aroma and refreshing broth, paired with fried dough sticks and braised peanuts, were a hit with the kids.
The restaurant was clean and tidy, with quick service, making it an ideal family-friendly dining spot during the trip.
🌉 Clarke Quay & Cavenagh Bridge | Golden Hour for Family Strolls
After dinner, we took a leisurely stroll near our hotel at Clarke Quay, walking along the riverside all the way to Cavenagh Bridge.
This riverside trail is perfect for an evening walk, with a gentle breeze and views of boats cruising back and forth. As the lights began to illuminate, the city transitioned from day to night in a serene glow.
🦁 Merlion Park | Iconic Nighttime Photo Spot
The highlight of tonight's itinerary was, of course, visiting Singapore's most iconic landmark—Merlion Park.
With Marina Bay Sands in the distance and a skyline aglow with lights, the sound of the Merlion's water spray mixed with the kids' laughter, creating the perfect ending to our day.
📷 Tip: To avoid crowds and capture great photos, visit around 7–8 PM when the temperature is also more comfortable.
🏨 Accommodation: ibis Styles Clarke Quay
Tonight, we stayed at the conveniently located ibis Styles Clarke Quay, within walking distance of MRT stations and multiple attractions.
Though a budget hotel, it was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a safe and pleasant choice for families with kids.
