Singapore Family Trip

Melbourne to Singapore: Airport Highlights, Clarke Quay Stroll, Merlion Night View—A Fun Transit Day
Today marks the transition from Australia to Singapore. Despite the extended flight time, the journey felt seamless and full of excitement!
From Melbourne → Changi Airport Highlights → Non-stop Food Adventures → Riverside Night Views, this day offered a perfect blend of relaxation and exotic charm, seamlessly connecting Australia's natural beauty with Singapore's modern city vibe.
✈️ Melbourne → Singapore | Flying with Singapore Airlines
We started the day early in Melbourne, flying with the highly-rated Singapore Airlines.
The onboard service was meticulous, the meals were delightful, and the kids enjoyed movies and games, making the mid-to-long-haul flight pass by quickly.
Parent Tip: Download some children's games or animations beforehand. Even if the plane lacks Wi-Fi, the kids won't get bored.
🌟 Arrival at Jewel Changi Airport: A World-Class Airport Destination!
Upon landing, we headed straight to the dreamy Jewel Changi Airport!
This globally renowned airport shopping and leisure hub is truly a paradise for families. The highlight, of course, is the indoor waterfall Rain Vortex, with its 40-meter-high water column cascading down, making it impossible not to snap countless photos.
🌳 Other attractions include:
- Massive indoor gardens and walking trails
- LEGO specialty store, candy shops, and robotic drink kiosks
- Circular walking paths and maze game areas (great for older kids)
📸 Tip: Plan 2-3 hours to explore Jewel in advance, or you might lose track of time!
🍲 Song Fa Bak Kut Teh | The First Taste of Singapore
After arriving in the city, our first stop was Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, where we savored Singapore's most iconic flavors.
The peppery aroma and refreshing broth, paired with fried dough sticks and braised peanuts, were a hit with the kids.
The restaurant was clean and tidy, with quick service, making it an ideal family-friendly dining spot during the trip.
🌉 Clarke Quay & Cavenagh Bridge | Perfect Evening Stroll
After dinner, we took a leisurely stroll near our hotel at Clarke Quay, walking along the riverside all the way to Cavenagh Bridge.
This riverside path is perfect for an evening walk, with a gentle breeze and plenty of boats passing by. As the lights began to illuminate, the city transitioned from day to night in a serene and beautiful way.
🦁 Merlion Park | Iconic Nighttime Photo Spot
The highlight of tonight's itinerary was, of course, visiting Singapore's most iconic landmark—Merlion Park.
With Marina Bay Sands in the distance and a skyline lit up with dazzling lights, the sound of the Merlion's water spray combined with the kids' laughter created the perfect ending to the day.
📷 Tip: To avoid crowds and capture great photos, visit around 7–8 PM when the temperature is also more comfortable.
🏨 Accommodation: ibis Styles Clarke Quay
Tonight, we stayed at the conveniently located ibis Styles Clarke Quay, within walking distance of MRT stations and multiple attractions.
Though the hotel is budget-friendly, it was clean, comfortable, and well-equipped, making it a safe and pleasant choice for families with kids.
