From 2017 to 2025: The Constancy and Changes of Singapore's Mornings

We are travelers from Taiwan.

If you ask me about my most unforgettable moment in Singapore, it would undoubtedly be the mornings at Marina Bay. From my first visit to Merlion Park in December 2017, gazing at the silhouettes of Marina Bay Sands and the Singapore Flyer, to returning again before Christmas in 2018, and revisiting this summer, every morning visit has deepened my affection for this city.

At 6 a.m., the sky is still cloaked in shades of blue and gray, the streets remain quiet, with only morning joggers and photography enthusiasts quietly lingering.

The reflections of Marina Bay Sands and the ArtScience Museum still shimmer on the water's surface, but the surrounding lights of the buildings now appear warmer and softer, even the distant lights of the Singapore Flyer seem gentler than I remember. Compared to years ago, the city hasn't changed much, yet this very constancy adds a magical layer of "overlapping memories."

These mornings feel like a gateway to both the past and the present. As I take new photos from the same spot and look at my 2017 social media posts on my phone, I can't help but reflect on the passage of time and the meaning of travel.

Back then, I was still inexperienced, but now the people and things captured in my camera have matured. The scenery, though similar, has become more profound through the lens of experience.

I highly recommend travelers who enjoy tranquility and photography to plan a morning visit to Merlion Park. Not only can you capture the enchanting light and reflections, but you can also encounter the most serene side of this city. While the city's pulse is strong, in these brief morning hours, you'll discover a different Singapore.
