Moss-covered lava field dressed in winter ❄️

We pulled over on the side of the Ring Road, not totally sure if we were in the right spot. Just in time for sunset, and wow. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect. The sky lit up in this unreal blend of soft blue and glowing orange. And there, just casually hanging out was the moon.

This was Eldhraun, Iceland’s moss-covered lava field. The moss usually vibrant green, was covered with snow.

Walking through it feels like stepping onto another planet. Everything was quiet. No sounds, no people, just us and this frozen lava landscape. We didn’t stay long (because again, freezing), but this experience was truly straight up unforgettable. #winterwonderland #sunset #iceland #wintertrip #historicallandmarks #localguides
