fantasy like ponds on a mountain

五彩池 on 黄龙风景区 huanglong scenic area is well worth the detour between ur journey from chengdu and jiuzhaigou. weather is luck dependent but late May was good during my visit. sunny but cool. great for photos. the ponds formation is unlike any i’ve seen before and really unique. the colours made it even more amazing. and this is not even the prettiest time of the year. highly recommended. along the way there’s a lot of toilets and several stall selling drinks and snacks. u can try somehow to book in advance an internal shuttle bus to cut ur walking distance. it’s 3.2km walk to the ponds otherwise. but it’s a scenic walk without too much ascend or descend. i took the cable car both ways but u should choose to trek down in the summer and autumn seasons where there will be pools along the way. now they’re dried up so not much motivation to do the trek down.#huanglong #黄龙五彩池
