Explore the secret realm of southern Zhejiang! This ancient village, rated by National Geographic as the "Last Secret Realm of Jiangnan," hides a stunning thousand-year-old camphor tree that is definitely worth a special visit!
📍Must-see highlights in Yangjiatang Village:
The most impressive sight for me was the pair of thousand-year-old camphor trees growing side by side at the village entrance! Standing beneath them, you can truly feel the marvels of nature’s craftsmanship. The trunks are so thick that it takes five or six adults to encircle them, and the dense branches require you to look up to see the canopy. Locals say these two trees are over 1,200 years old—truly living fossils!
✨Travel tips:
1️⃣ The best times for photos are early morning and evening, when sunlight filters through the leaves onto the old yellow clay walls, creating a scene as beautiful as a painting.
2️⃣ The village has many stone-paved paths, so comfortable, non-slip shoes are recommended.
3️⃣ Besides the ancient camphor trees, be sure to visit the village ancestral hall and Qing Dynasty residences.
4️⃣ Nearby Songyang is known as the "Hometown of Ancient Villages," so you can also visit other ancient villages like Chenjiapu and Xikeng near Yangjiatang.
🏡 Accommodation recommendations:
It’s recommended to stay in Songyang County Town for convenient transportation. If you want to experience village life, there are several renovated guesthouses inside Yangjiatang Village where you can stay in old houses.
🍲 Food guide:
🌱 Songyang specialty rice noodles: smooth and refreshing, delicious at any old shop in the county town.
🌱 Jinyun sesame seed cake: thin crust and generous filling, best eaten hot.
🌱 Farmhouse free-range chicken soup: a must-order at Yangjiatang Village farm stays.
