Sumiyoshi Shrine on the coast of Sumoto, Awaji Island

This shrine, commonly known as Komoe no Ebisu Shrine, stands on the coast of Sumoto Onsen. It is said that if you visit the shrine on the first three days of the New Year, you will not get sick for a year. On the hilltop, there is Awashima Shrine, which stands with its back to the sea. As it is a shrine on the coast, the main hall was washed away by a typhoon in 1950. When it was rebuilt, it welcomed the Ebisu Okami, and it is a shrine loved by locals, where many people visit to pray for good fortune on the first and third days of the New Year.
