They said the photos were all edited, until I went to Zhangye Danxia...

The Earth's color spectrum: Zhangye Danxia National Geological Park visual notes 🌈

When I arrived in Zhangye, the northwest sky was shining bright blue. Driving towards the Danxia Scenic Area, the scenery outside the window gradually transitioned from oasis to Gobi Desert, and a sense of anticipation quietly grew in my heart.✨

First sight: a geological wonder beyond imagination 🏔️

At three in the afternoon, I stood on the wooden boardwalk of Viewing Platform No. 1. The scene before me made even a seasoned traveler like myself hold my breath—the layers of mountains displayed such rich colors under the sunlight: ochre red, bright yellow, gray-blue, pale purple. These colors were not neatly layered but blended and intermingled, as if a wild painter was wildly splashing giant brushstrokes across the mountains.🎨

Looking closer, the mountain textures were exceptionally clear. Billions of years of geological movements left marks like tree rings here, each layer recording a distant geological era. Wind and rain erosion carved these sedimentary layers into ever-changing shapes: some like surging waves, some like gentle sand dunes, others like giant folding fans slowly unfolding. This is not just a mountain; it is clearly a geological epic written by the earth itself!📖

The magic of colors: mountains flowing with light and shadow 🌅

As the sun tilted westward, I gradually understood why locals say Zhangye Danxia is a "living" landscape. From four o'clock in the afternoon, the light softened, and the mountain colors began to change wonderfully.😲

The yellow rock layers, which looked pale under the noon sun, gradually became full and emitted a warm golden glow; the dark red stripes deepened like flames surging from the earth’s depths; the blue-gray parts showed faint blue-purple tones in the shadows, like mist over distant mountains. The most amazing thing was that these colors were not static—like the mountains were gently breathing, the colors subtly changed every minute with the shifting light and shadow.💫

I met a photographer who has been shooting here for over ten years. He told me, "Many people think Danxia photos are all post-processed, but that's not true. Under the right light, these colors are even more brilliant than what cameras can capture. The key is knowing how to wait." His words enlightened me.🙏

Sunset: the most magnificent symphony of colors between earth and sky 🌇

To secure the best spot for sunset photography at Viewing Platform No. 4, I arrived an hour and a half early. It proved to be a wise decision—as sunset approached, the platform gradually filled with visitors from around the world.👥

When the sun finally began to sink below the horizon, a visual feast unfolded.🌄

The slanting sunlight grazed the ridges at a very low angle, bringing out the full charm of Zhangye Danxia. At that moment, I witnessed what "radiant brilliance" truly means: the entire mountain range seemed ignited, bursting with unbelievably vivid colors. The golden ridges outlined clear contours against the backlight, the red rock layers revealed rich textures in the side light, and the blue tones in the shadows formed a beautiful contrast with the warm colors of the sunset glow.😍

Reflections under the starry sky: a dialogue with billions of years ✨

I chose to leave last before the park closed. As the visitors gradually dispersed, sitting alone among the darkening mountains, a different kind of emotion arose.

The Danxia in twilight shed its daytime brilliance and donned a mysterious veil. Before these Cretaceous strata formed 135 to 65 million years ago, a human life is but a fleeting moment. These mountains witnessed the extinction of dinosaurs, observed continental drift, and today, they still stand quietly here, welcoming every visitor in their most beautiful form.🤔

Practical information:

· Best viewing time: 3 PM to sunset
· Recommended viewing platforms: No. 2 has the widest view, No. 4 has the most beautiful colors
· Remember to bring plenty of water and sun protection
· Comfortable shoes are recommended

Standing before the Danxia, I suddenly understood: this is not just a trip, but a conversation with Earth's history. Here, time is embodied in the most beautiful way, and we are all fortunate witnesses to this colorful feast.🌟
