The Suzhou Museum was the first museum in China to be certified as a "National First Class Museum" in 2008. The design, which is based on the motif of Suzhou's old buildings, such as white walls and gray roof lines, was created by world-renowned architect Ieoh Ming Pei. He is from Suzhou and is famous for designing the glass pyramid at the Louvre Museum.
Not only is it a white-walled building typical of Suzhou, but the carp pond and rocky mountain are also carved into the walls, making it look like the world heritage "Classical Gardens" of Suzhou. It is no wonder that the museum blends in with the old town streets, sprinkling elements typical of Suzhou into the modern atmosphere.
The collection of works is of course wonderful, and it is a very popular museum, with a line to enter most days.
Admission is free, but you need to register on WeChat. There is a limit to the number of people allowed in at each time, so it is recommended to register in advance. You can register from the official account of "Suzhou Museum".
