I was fascinated by the history of Xiyuan Temple, particularly the story of the ancient giant softshell turtles. Learning about the two precious turtles that lived for over 400 years and seeing the bronze statue of the big turtle in the Release Pond made the temple's history feel tangible. The temple's ancient wisterias, with two over 400 years old and another over 500, also added a sense of timelessness. This temple is a testament to history and endurance.
