Chose Kimpton Zhuhui Hotel in Suzhou and immediately fell into a "Jiangnan ink painting"! Garden, water alleys, white walls with black tiles all included, green views from the room window, stunning Gusu scenes everywhere in the public areas, stayed for 3 days and almost felt like an ancient leisure person~
Room: A painting when you open the window
Courtyard Terrace Room: Open the door to a small courtyard with rattan chairs, green plants, and stone paths. Sitting here drinking tea feels like a literati from "A Dream of Splendor," perfect for wearing Hanfu and taking silhouette photos!
Water View King Room: Floor-to-ceiling windows face the pool, reflecting blue sky, white clouds, and tree shadows inside the room. Lying on the bed watching the moonlight on the water is so romantic it inspires poetry.
Loft Duplex Room: Stylish upper and lower floors, sleep in upstairs and lounge downstairs. Friends say it feels like "living in an ancient wealthy family’s villa."
Public Areas: Scenic views at every step
Central Pool Garden: Huge pool with pavilions and towers, lotus flowers, rockeries, and red lanterns. Walking around in a qipao, people ask, "Are you at the Humble Administrator’s Garden?"
Sunken Book Bar: Warm yellow lighting + bookshelves + sofas, perfect for tea and reading, truly understanding "stealing half a day of leisure." The art books are stunning, don’t miss them.
Zhuhui Night Garden: Lights on at night, red lanterns and stone paths create a "Strange Stories from a Chinese Studio" fairyland (romantic version), couples strolling here are super sweet.
Nearby Activities
Pingjiang Road: 10 minutes on foot! Shop, eat plum blossom cakes, listen to Pingtan storytelling, and take a hand-pulled boat ride at dusk to feel transported to ancient times.
Suzhou Museum: 15 minutes by taxi, designed by I.M. Pei as a "modern garden," view cultural relics and take light and shadow photos, book in advance.
Humble Administrator’s Garden / Lion Grove Garden: 20 minutes by bike, visit classic gardens, recommended to hire a guide for stories, and don’t miss the cultural creative ice cream.
Practical Tips
- Room choice: For photos, pick a first-floor terrace room; for water views, choose a second-floor king room; loft is great for gatherings.
- Photography: Visit the garden between 9-10 AM or 5-6 PM, wear qipao or Hanfu, which the hotel rents.
- Transportation: Ride shared bikes in the city center to visit attractions, faster than taxis and enjoy street views.
- Hidden perks: Guests receive a Gusu welcome gift, free delicious tea at the book bar, and use night mode for photos in the night garden.
Staying here for 3 days, I understood the charm of Suzhou gardens—stepping out is the lively Gusu streets, coming back is a private garden. Will stay again next time! (Real experience, highly recommended)
