Before coming to Suzhou, I scoured the internet and finally stumbled upon the hidden gem of the Andu Hotel's "Queen Room"—who knew! The room features a tatami tea area, and the moment I opened the door, I was instantly captivated.
The tatami was covered with soft orange cushions and furnished with a vegetarian tea set, including a selection of Lapsang Souchong and Tieguanyin tea. In the afternoon, I drew the curtains, letting the sunlight filter through and bathe my teacup. I could skip the crowds of tourist attractions and simply relax and unwind in the comfort of my hotel room, sipping tea. The bedding was the kind of soft, silky fabric you never want to slip into, and there was a hidden nightlight at the headboard, so I could get up in the dark for a late-night tea.
The most surprising detail was the detail: when I checked out, I asked the front desk if I could take my tea bags with me, and they gave me two! Pingjiang Road is an eight-minute walk away. After a day of wandering, I could just relax on the tatami with a cup of hot tea—that's how to truly enjoy a Suzhou trip.
