Huanxiu Villa is a very compact Suzhou garden, covering only 3 acres, and can be toured in just over ten minutes.

Huanxiu Villa is the former site of the "Jingu Garden" of the Qian family from the Five Dynasties Wu and Yue period. Its lake rockery is the finest in China, reportedly built by the Qing dynasty rockery master Ge Yuliang, and is considered a treasure among rockeries.

Huanxiu Villa is renowned for its "unique style, unparalleled in Jiangnan." It was listed as a national key cultural relic protection unit in 1988 and was designated a World Cultural Heritage site by the UNESCO World Heritage Committee at the end of 1997.
