Suzhou Changyuan Bear Hotel, a performance art experience living in a garden

🌿When visiting Suzhou Ancient City, you must stay at this hidden gem hotel! Walking through the alley on Renmin Road, the moment I pushed open the wooden door of Changyuan Bear, I felt like I traveled back a hundred years—wearing a young lady’s Western-style dress and taking photos in the corridor, even the passing aunties complimented us as if we had come from the past (laughs).

▫️A sense of ceremony living inside a World Heritage site
The hotel itself is part of the ultra-exclusive garden "Changyuan"! After the garden closes, you can enjoy the entire garden exclusively with your key. We changed into our Western dresses and couldn’t stop taking photos by the moon gate and Taihu stones. The flying eaves in the morning mist and the curved corridors lit by lanterns at night—every corner looks like a scene taken straight out of an ancient painting~

▪️A magic moment where ancient meets modern
The rooms take Suzhou aesthetics to the extreme! Carved window lattices with floor heating, bathtubs facing the courtyard, and toiletries hidden in rosewood cabinets. The moment I lifted the curtain in the morning, sunlight streamed through the flower windows casting stunning shadows on the tatami (took 200 photos like crazy).

Now I finally understand why the ancients loved building gardens—living the slow life here, scattering fish food, smelling osmanthus blossoms, and sipping Biluochun tea is far more enjoyable than sightseeing~
