Lausanne is the capital of the canton of Vaud and the fourth largest city in Switzerland. It is a small city located on the northern side of Lake Geneva, about 60 kilometers from Geneva. It has a very beautiful view, surrounded by mountains and a large lake. Most people in the city speak French because Lausanne is close to the French border. The houses of Lausanne are full of classical buildings from the 12th to 14th centuries. The atmosphere is quiet and not chaotic. There is a comprehensive subway system.
