Taishan, also known as Daisan, Daizong, Daiyue, Dongyue, Taiyue, is one of the Five Mountains, known as the 'first of the Five Mountains' and 'the first mountain in the world'. It is located in the central part of Shandong Province, under the jurisdiction of Taian City, stretching between Taian, Jinan, and Zibo, with a total area of 25,000 hectares and the main peak Yuhuangding at an altitude of 1532.7 meters.
In 1982, Taishan was listed as the first batch of national scenic spots. In 1987, Taishan was approved by UNESCO as China's first World Cultural and Natural Heritage. In 2002, Taishan was rated as the 'first of the top ten cultural mountains in China'. In 2005, Taishan became a national geological park. In 2006, Taishan, with its unique geological value, became a World Geological Park. In March 2007, Taishan was rated as a national AAAAA tourist attraction; in December, Taishan was named the first 'Chinese Calligraphy Famous Mountain' in China.
Taishan, which has accompanied the history of Chinese civilization for five thousand years, embodies the symbol of national prosperity and national survival, carries rich geographical historical and cultural connotations, was regarded by the ancients as a 'direct access to the imperial seat' heaven, became the sacred mountain of the people's worship, the emperor's sacrifice, and there is a saying that 'when Taishan is safe, all seas are safe'.
