The Taiwan Sun Cake Museum was formerly the Wei Qinghai Sun Cake Shop, a 60-year-old bakery passed down by Mr. Wei Qinghai, the inventor of the sun cake.
Not only do they sell sun cakes here, but they also tell the history of the development of sun cakes and gather cultural and creative design thinking, making it an important cultural and creative storytelling base in Taichung.
1. Sun Cake Artifacts Exhibition
Exhibition area:
Starting with the life story of Master Wei Qinghai, the inventor of the sun cake, and then to a detailed introduction to other types of cakes made by cake makers, we gradually get to know this unique industry with a long history that has grown with Taichung.
Cake making tool display area:
The cake-making tool - Kueh Yin, contains the legends and stories of cakes. Our museum exhibits a collection of various cakes and kueh Yins, taking you back to the era of handmade cakes, gaining a deeper understanding of their classification and usage, and admiring their delicate carving techniques up close, exploring the beauty of Kueh Yins.
2. Old Space Light Meal Area
The light meal restaurant on the 2nd floor uses autumn green as the base color and combines it with wood materials to create a comfortable and relaxing dining space.
3. Sun Cake DIY Activity
The Sun Cake Museum inherits the spirit of Master Wei Qinghai, the inventor of the sun cake. It not only preserves the original flavor of the sun cake, but also adds fun DIY activities to allow more tourists and students to experience the local characteristics of Taichung.
