Arriving at Gaomei Wetland at 4 PM, the sky was already tinged with a soft golden hue. Walking along the winding wooden boardwalk, the vast wetland ecosystem stretched out on both sides. Fiddler crabs scurried busily across the mudflats, while mudskippers leapt in the shallow waters, creating a miniature natural theater. As the tide receded, the wetland transformed into a mirror of the sky, reflecting the ever-changing clouds.
By evening, crowds began to gather at the end of the boardwalk. As the sun slowly set in the west, the entire wetland was bathed in shades of orange and red. The wind turbines turned gracefully in the twilight, forming a stunning silhouette. Barefoot, I stepped into the cool intertidal zone, where the soft sand gently enveloped my feet. In that moment, I was completely immersed in the romance of nature.
Gaomei Wetland taught me to slow down—it’s not just a place for photo ops but a sanctuary to experience the wonders of ecology and the poetic beauty of nature.
