Address: No. 15, Lane 21, Zhongzheng Road, West Central District, Tainan City 700
Atmosphere/Facilities: Zexian Hall was built in 1879, during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, and has a history of 144 years. It is located very close to the Tainan Confucius Temple, the first school in Taiwan.
The courtyard-style building is very elegant. It is said that there was a woman who practiced Buddhism here with her hair uncut, so it is called a hall instead of a temple.
The hall enshrines the Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara, who hears the cries of the suffering and relieves them immediately, and is very compassionate. The side hall enshrines the Medicine Buddha. Leave a piece of pure land in the urban jungle. It is quaint and worth a visit.
Features: Qing Dynasty architecture, maintaining its ancient appearance, hidden in the alleys, reminiscent of the past.
