Tainan - Taiwan's first historic site preservation area: Wufei Temple

#Wufei Temple is one of the national monuments in Tainan City. It was built to commemorate the five concubines of the Ningjing King of the Ming Dynasty. The five concubines are Yuan, Wang, Xiu Gu, Mei Jie and He Jie.

Wufei Street and Qingzhong Street where the Wufei Temple is located are lined with snack restaurants. Behind it is the Tainan Baseball Stadium. It is quite lively, but it is far less well-known than Chihkan Tower or Anping Fort, so there are very few tourists visiting.

The Wufei Temple has been established for more than 300 years since 1683. Its geographical location is west and northeast. It is a single-entry and two-dragon building. Since the Wufei Temple was originally a tomb, and the temple was later built, it presents a "tomb and temple in one" format. The temple itself is in front of the tomb, and the two are closely connected.

In 2020, the Ministry of Culture selected the Wufei Temple as Taiwan's first monument preservation area. There are monuments, interpretation signs, etc., and it is also a temple for contemporary couples to pray for loyalty.
