Tainan - Japanese-style dormitories in the urban jungle - Fudong Creative Forest Life

#Exhibition #100 Ways to Travel

Tainan's unpopular attractions #Fudong Creative Forest, located at the intersection of Linsen Road and Dongmen Road, is a Japanese-style wooden official residence complex in a green area in the urban jungle.

It was originally the dormitory complex of the Tainan State Agricultural Experiment Station, built in 1923. The roof style is a Japanese-style Kiritsumagaya, and the characteristic is that there is a building similar to a dragon guard on each side, namely the left and right wing rooms. In 2004, it was listed as a Tainan City historic site and is open to the public.

During the Japanese colonial era, there are many Japanese-style dormitory complexes left in various counties and cities, but it depends on how the contracting units manage and revitalize them. Some are very successful while others are not popular. Fudong Creative Forest probably belongs to the latter. It wants to commercialize but can't come up with any gimmicks.

The current business model mainly provides Japanese yukata experience and tea tasting, including Eighteen Tea Ceremony, Samadhi Humanistic Space Vegetarian Coffee, Japanese Tea House, as well as exhibition venues Lichen Art and Taiwan-Japan Cultural Friendship Foundation.

If you want to try on a Japanese yukata, take some beautiful photos, take your kids for a walk, visit an exhibition, or have a Japanese tea ceremony experience, this is a good place with few people and a relaxing time.
