The century-old Huojian Tower regains its glory! Tainan City Fire Museum Fire God Lights Up

#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025

Not to be outdone by the Puji Temple Lantern Festival, the Tainan City Fire Museum also held a Fire God Protection Lantern Lighting Ceremony. Hundreds of lanterns were hung high, and the century-old Huojian Tower was recreated in all its glory, which was quite a sight to behold!

The predecessor of the Tainan City Fire Museum was the "Former Tainan Joint Office Building", which was jointly operated by the Fire Department, the Police Hall, and the Nishiki-cho Police Station during the Japanese colonial period.

The entire building consists of a central tower and two wings, also known as the "Fire Tower". It was later transformed into a firefighting museum and is also listed as a Tainan City historic site with free admission.

In addition to the lanterns lit up in strings on the exterior walls, the museum's interior patio is also open to display lanterns. There is also an area that creates the atmosphere of Japanese lanterns, which are quite beautiful to photograph and is well worth a visit to enjoy the lanterns.
