Shaanxi Foping National Nature Reserve is located in Foping County, Hanzhong City, Shaanxi Province. Foping Reserve is the area with the highest distribution density of wild giant panda populations and the best habitat for giant pandas in the world. It is also the hope for the reproduction and expansion of wild giant panda populations.

The Foping National Nature Reserve has also been designated a National Youth Science Education Base and a Shaanxi Normal University Field Teaching Experimental Base. It has also developed multi-level and multi-faceted collaborations with numerous research institutions. In 2014, the Shaanxi Provincial Forestry Department designated it a "Youth Science Exploration Route," where it conducts environmental education activities for appropriate-age youth.
