Located in the mountainous areas of Nanhua and Nanxi in Tainan, there are many forest trails for hiking. This time, we are taking the 'Yuding Trail,' situated in Beiliao Village of Nanhua. The trail stretches 1.6 kilometers from the Tianyan Temple at the foot of the mountain to the ridge, with approximately 1,470 steps. The entire trail is mostly paved with stone steps and wooden boardwalks, making it quite a leg workout and guaranteed to make you sweat!
The condition of the Yuding Trail is relatively good, but since it is almost entirely uphill steps, you might start questioning your life choices and gasping for breath in the latter half. However, once you reach the pavilion at the top, you will be rewarded with a magnificent view, including a glimpse of the Nanhua Reservoir!
The greatest benefit of hiking forest trails is burning calories and absorbing phytoncides. The Yuding Trail preserves the natural ecology of the original forest, with the native Murraya trees being particularly precious.
At the foot of the mountain, the Tianyan Temple is surrounded by Pink Trumpet Trees, which bloom pink like cherry blossoms in spring, making it quite beautiful. This is a popular and leisurely health trail, highly recommended for a challenge.
