This is a theater converted from a rice mill. The "Yongcheng Theater" was established in November 1945 and was one of the three major theaters in Yanshui area at that time. The Yongcheng Rice Mill, run by Mr. Huang Zhi, was affected by the defeat of the Japanese army during the outbreak of World War II and after careful consideration, it was transformed and rebuilt into a theater. However, as audiences' entertainment habits changed and the passage of time, Yongcheng Cinema officially closed in 1991. The current exterior of the theater was restored in August 2008, but due to construction delays the restoration was not completed until September 2011. The theater is currently used as a venue for local cultural and artistic activities. (20210813)
