The Jiulong Waterfalls are known as "the most beautiful waterfalls in China". The drop in the 4-kilometer-long river exceeds 100 meters. The most spectacular "Jiulong First Waterfall" is 60 meters high.
The sound of the falling water curtain is loud but not noisy. In addition, there are many rapeseed flower fields in the scenic area, which can be seen by the way, but you can't see them if you only go downstream.
Every year on the second day of the second lunar month, young people of all ethnic groups from the neighboring areas of Yunnan and Guizhou within a radius of a hundred miles will dress in their best clothes and rush to the waterfall to celebrate the singing festival. People perform ancient dances, carry traditional lanterns, and sing to choose their partners.
The sightseeing cable car in the scenic area can take tourists to a very high observation deck, where they can overlook the entire ten waterfalls, which is very spectacular.

The Jiulong Waterfalls are located approximately 22 kilometers northeast of Luoping County, Qujing City, in Yunnan Province. To reach the site from Kunming, take a bus to Luoping (about 3–4 hours), then transfer to a local bus to Banqiao, and finally take a minivan to the waterfalls. Alternatively, hire a private vehicle for a more direct route.
The Jiulong Waterfalls are open daily from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The best time to visit is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November) months, when the weather is mild and the surrounding landscapes are vibrant. Summer months can be hot and humid, while winter offers a more serene experience.
