Tainan Foodie and Sightseeing Guide|Discovering a Millennium of Local Life in the Alleys

Tainan is truly a treasure trove! Don’t just focus on the snacks; every brick here holds a story. Spending a day wandering feels like traveling through multiple eras. Millennials, just go for it~

📍Attraction Addresses:

Mainly concentrated in the West Central District (Old Town) and Anping District. The city isn’t big, and you can easily visit all spots by riding a small electric scooter!

🚗Transportation to Attractions:

- For visitors from out of town: Fly into Kaohsiung or Tainan Airport first, then take a bus or taxi to the city. It’s recommended to stay in the West Central District for convenience.
- Getting around the city: Rent an electric scooter (100-200 TWD/day, available everywhere). Easier to park than a car and super flexible for weaving through alleys.
- Bus: Use the “Tainan Bus” app. The city routes cover a wide area, and students can use their EasyCard.

👍️Must-Visit Attractions:

1. Anping Fisherman’s Wharf: Head there at dusk! The whale installation is perfect for photos, and the red brick warehouses with the fishing port sunset create a Taiwanese-style fresh vibe. Don’t forget to buy a freshly grilled oyster omelet as a prop~
2. Taiwan’s First Confucius Temple: The red walls and green tiles are perfect for Hanfu photos! Sit under the big banyan tree and soak in the atmosphere of “Taiwan’s oldest Confucian temple,” instantly turning you into a culture lover.
3. Military Dependents’ Village Cultural Space: A photo spot in a renovated old house, with weathered walls and army green doors and windows. Grandparents chatting under the tree make it feel like stepping into a Wong Kar-wai film.
4. Blueprint Cultural & Creative Park: An old judicial dormitory turned art district, with graffiti walls and handmade shops that are great to explore. When tired, sit outside and enjoy coffee with the sunshine pouring down—super relaxing.
5. Tainan Art Museum: The first building is a vintage police station, the same venue as Lin Chi-ling’s wedding; the second building is ultra-modern with geometric lines, perfect for stylish photos.

🎟️Ticket Information:

- Confucius Temple: 50 TWD, half price for students (remember your student ID)
- Tainan Art Museum: Free! But special exhibitions may charge admission; check notices on-site.
- Blueprint, Military Dependents’ Village, Fisherman’s Wharf: All free! Perfect for low-cost food and sightseeing.

💗Other Tips:

1. Don’t just queue at popular online-famous shops! Randomly explore old shops in alleys. The grandma selling bowl rice cakes with black gold soy sauce is so delicious you’ll want to stomp your feet.
2. Tainan locals are very serious about temple worship. Don’t wear shorts or skirts when entering temples to respect local customs.
3. Sunscreen! Sunscreen! The UV rays are strong in summer, and the wind from riding the scooter can easily cause sunburn that even your mom won’t recognize.
4. For night markets, go to Garden Night Market. Must-try dishes include pepper conch and small squid rice noodles. Freshly baked bread dipped in curry crab sauce is a must-eat while hot.

Tainan’s pace is slow and relaxed, perfect for wandering around~ Enjoy culture during the day and indulge in snacks at night. This trip is definitely worth it!
