A Japanese cultural and creative base that travels through a century of salt industry #Anpingchuzhangsuo-Anping District, Tainan City

#trip Family Outing Choice
The Anping Branch Office, located in Anping District, Tainan, is a complex attraction combining century-old historical architecture, cultural and creative products, unique experiences, and adorable pets. It not only bears witness to the glory of Anping's salt industry, but has also become a must-see destination for Tainan travelers with its revamped look. Originally known as the "Anping Branch Office of the Former Taiwan Governor-General's Office, Tainan Branch," the Anping Branch Office was built in 1927 and served as a key institution for managing the salt industry in the Anping area during the Japanese colonial period.
The building, constructed in an L-shaped, eclectic Japanese-Western style, features a wooden exterior with rain-paneled panels, exuding a strong Japanese influence. The entrance hall, emulating a Western-style terrace, showcases the fusion of Eastern and Western architectural elements of the era. After the Restoration, the site served as a dormitory for retired salt industry employees. After restoration by the Tainan City Government and outsourced management, it now welcomes visitors as the "Anping Branch Office," a designated historic monument.
The courtyard of the Anping Branch Office features a specially designed capybara interactive area featuring the popular capybaras, nicknamed "capybara salt workers." Visitors can watch them soak in the water, stroll, and even have the opportunity to feed them, adding a lively and adorable touch to the historic site.

The Anping Branch Office allows visitors to experience the historical significance of the salt industry within a nearly century-old Japanese-style building while being soothed by modern cultural creations and the adorable capybaras. It is a perfect place to experience the unique charm of Anping, Tainan.
