The Ministry of Railways Park is a tourist attraction that combines railway history, architectural beauty and cultural education. It is conveniently located and can be reached in about 5 minutes on foot from the MRT Beimen Station.
This historical building complex from the Japanese colonial period includes the hall, canteen, octagonal building, power room, engineering room and wartime command center, all of which have been listed as national monuments. Wandering through it, you can appreciate the beauty of Japanese architecture and feel the development history of Taiwan Railway.
The museum has a rich exhibition system. The parent-child interactive area on the first floor is suitable for children to play, displaying many interactive facilities related to railways, which is both entertaining and educational. The second floor introduces the evolution of Taiwan’s railways, and you can also see a model of an old train station. At certain times, there will be dynamic train displays, making people feel as if they have returned to the station time in the past.
There is a cafe in the park where you can take a break, as well as a cultural and creative store that sells various railway-related souvenirs. The ticket price is only NT$100, which is very cost-effective. Whether you are a railway fan, architecture enthusiast, or someone who wants to explore Taiwan's history, it is well worth a visit.
