Memories in the Sound of Drums

Early in the morning, I set off from Taipei and took a leisurely stroll along the Dadaocheng Wharf. This riverside area, which blends history and modernity, always leaves one enchanted. The red-brick Western-style buildings stand quietly by the wharf, bearing witness to Taipei's prosperous past. Walking into the old street, the aroma of coffee and the sweet scent of herbal tea intertwine. I sat down in a vintage teahouse, savoring the leisurely moments of the city. In the afternoon, I took the high-speed rail south to Tainan and arrived at the Ten Drum Rende Sugar Cultural and Creative Park. This park, transformed from a century-old sugar factory, perfectly integrates historical architecture with drum music art. I wandered among the abandoned factory buildings, gazing up at the mottled chimneys and steel structures, as if I could hear the roaring of the sugar-making machinery from the past. The most awe-inspiring part was the drum performance. The performers struck the drumheads with great force, creating a deafening sound that brought an intensely powerful experience. The setting sun cast a warm glow on the red-brick buildings, adding a touch of warmth to this cultural journey.
