Night Markets & Nostalgia: Taipei & New Taipei’s Best Strolls 🌃🍡🏮
Kick off in central Taipei with the electric energy of Ximending Night Market—shops, eats, street performances, all alive from 5pm to 10pm. Grab some grilled squid or bubble tea, then snap eye-catching shots at entrance arches and beneath neon signage for that signature Ximending vibe! A quick stop at Taipei Tianhou Temple (open 6am–9:45pm) just around the corner offers serene ambiance—burn incense, admire the intricate roof dragons, and don’t miss the mesmerizing lantern canopy for your next instaworthy shot.
Venture out to New Taipei’s Pingxi district to experience old-world romance at Shifen Old Street (open all day). Buy a sky lantern, write your wishes (personal tip: use bold color pens—they pop best against the paper!), and watch it float up against vintage railways. Iconic photo ops: lantern launch, train tracks and photogenic snack stalls!
Cap off at Shifen Waterfall, just a short walk from old street (open 9am–4:30pm). Follow marked trails for best waterfall views—look out for the rainbow bridge as your top photo spot. Wear good shoes (paths can get slippery) and pack a rain jacket in case mist rolls in. Avoid weekends if possible for lighter crowds.
Quick Tips:
Cash is king at local markets and food stalls.
Night Market: Watch bags, avoid peak times for easier exploring.
Shifen Old Street: Trains run through; mind the tracks!
Shifen Waterfall: Last entry 4pm, be mindful of closing time.
