The Old Donghe Bridge quietly spans the Mawuku River, its red steel structure standing out vividly against the blue sky and surrounding mountains. Once a vital transportation route along the East Coast, the bridge has now been transformed into a scenic walkway, inviting travelers to pause and take in the breathtaking view where the river valley meets the ocean.
Standing at the center of the bridge, looking upstream reveals a tranquil valley embraced by lush greenery, with crystal-clear waters meandering through. Looking downstream, the river rushes toward the Pacific Ocean, where the horizon stretches endlessly. In the early morning, mist drifts over the river, resembling a delicate ink painting, while in the afternoon, sunlight bathes the bridge and water in a warm glow.
The Old Donghe Bridge is not just a great spot for photography but also a perfect place to experience the slow pace of life in Taitung. Bring a cup of coffee, feel the sea breeze, and listen to the sound of the water—time seems to slow down here.
