Oji Station to Asukayama Park, a local Japanese cherry blossom picnic spot

#TokyoCherryBlossoms

Next to Oji Station in northern Tokyo is a scenic spot—Asukayama Park, which is quite spacious and planted with over 600 Somei Yoshino and Sato cherry trees. When they bloom in late March to early April, you can even capture the dreamy view of cherry blossoms alongside the Arakawa tram!

Asukayama Park is served by multiple railway lines, making it very convenient to get to: take the JR Keihin-Tohoku Line and get off at Oji Station, then walk 2 minutes; take the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line and get off at Oji Station, then walk 2 minutes; or take the Toden Arakawa Line and get off at Asukayama Station, then walk 2 minutes.

Since Asukayama Park is a bit off the beaten path, there are relatively fewer tourists, mostly locals. People usually picnic on the grass under the cherry trees, enjoying the blossoms, delicious food, and chatting—so relaxing!
