You can take a chartered car from Guanshan Town or Chihshang Town in Taitung to the entrance of Jiaming Lake National Trail.

Most people will choose a three-day and two-night hiking trip. On the first day, they will climb 8.4 kilometers from the trailhead to Jiaming Lake Mountain House. After a half-day rest, they will get up at 2:00 a.m. on the second day to go to Jiaming Lake and climb another 4.6 kilometers to Jiaming Lake to watch the sunrise.
