3D2N Chiaming Lake Hike + Camping

For all mountain lovers and hikers, Taiwan is a good place to visit with countless mountain peaks over 3000m above sea level. One hike I recommend is the Chiaming Lake hike.

It's a 3D2N hike, and I recommend the camping route instead of the lodge route as the lodge route is a to and fro journey and you get the same views on the way back. 📍Chishang is a good town to stay in before and after the hike

In the camping route, we start from an elevation of around 1800m at 戒茂斯山 trailhead, before making our way up to about 3000m on the first day to the first campsite. We pass by xinwulu creek and river, and a few mountain peaks to take pictures. This is where you climb over the layer of clouds to see a magnificent sea of clouds.

On the 2nd day, we continue the hike above 3000m where the air is relatively thin, across 3 campsites named after ball sports, like the football campsite, where you can rest to have lunch and take beautiful pictures. By evening we settled at our final campsite along a river called the hunterhouse campground. It is located at a valley and winds are very strong at night. There is even a chance to see deers if you are lucky (which we were).

On the 3rd morning, we wake up early to start the push to Chiaming Lake, where we reached there by sunrise for scenic pictures. Afterwards, we continue the ascend towards Sancha Montain and Siangyang mountain, 2 mountain peaks towering over 3400 and 3600m respectively. At this point things will get quite tiring as it is a long day of hiking a few kilometres with a big bag. Once Siangyang mountain is done, we start descending back towards the exit to end the day and ride a van back to Chishang where we stay before and after the hike.
