✨ In Hailing District of Taizhou, there is a garden known as the "Number One Garden of Huai Left," Qiao Garden. It is one of the oldest existing gardens in northern Jiangsu and a treasure full of Jiangnan charm.
🏯 Long History: Qiao Garden was first built during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. It was originally called "Rishe Garden," inspired by Tao Yuanming's phrase "the garden is visited daily to create interest." After multiple changes of ownership, its name changed from "San Feng Garden" and "Zhe Garden" before finally becoming "Qiao Garden," witnessing centuries of change.
🎋 Garden Scenery: Qiao Garden is intricately designed, centered around the Shanshang Caotang, with harmonious mountains and waters, and pavilions and towers arranged gracefully. The rockery inside is a Ming Dynasty relic and a masterpiece in central Jiangsu. The "Sky Maze" made of stacked Taihu stones is full of fun. There is also a 450-year-old ancient cypress tree, like a "living artifact," witnessing the garden's rise and fall.
🌟 Cultural Heritage: Famous figures such as Liu Shaoqi and Mei Lanfang have left their marks here. Garden architecture expert Chen Congzhou praised it as "the oldest existing garden in northern Jiangsu."
📸 Photo Spot: The Mirror Pavilion and waterside pavilion are perfect for photos. Use the window frame to "steal" a piece of bamboo forest as your backdrop and instantly create a classical-style masterpiece. After 4 PM, fewer visitors make it the golden time for unobstructed shots. Wearing Hanfu can even give you a time-traveling feel.
📍 Practical Information: Qiao Garden is located at No. 68 Hailing North Road, Hailing District, Taizhou. Admission is free. Opening hours are 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM (last entry at 5:00 PM). You can reach it by taking bus routes 1, 2, and others to Qiao Garden Station.
If you are tired of the city's hustle and bustle, why not visit Qiao Garden in Taizhou? Among pavilions and flowers, feel this tranquility and beauty, and encounter an old Jiangnan dream~
