Sanuki Ichinomiya Tamura Shrine

The first shrine in Sanuki Province. It is said that the shrine was built in 709, and it is believed to be a shrine that protects the water necessary for rice cultivation. A morning market is held on Sundays, and the udon served there is popular as "udon you can eat at a shrine".

According to the shrine records, Tamura Shrine used to worship the water god (dragon god) in a deep abyss called Sadamizunoi. It is said that the shrine was built on the abyss by Gyoki in 709. The Sanuki region is an area with little rain, and requires reservoirs for farming, and the water that springs up in this area without drying up is said to be the root of faith and rituals.
