The Old Town Preservation Area in Hida Takayama

If you head towards the Miyagawa River from Takayama Station and cross the river, you'll find a street preserving the old townscape. It's simply called the Old Town.
Charming traditional houses are utilized as shops, sake breweries, and cafes.
As a major tourist attraction in Takayama, it is always crowded.
There are plenty of street foods to enjoy, such as sushi and croquettes made with Hida beef.
Many shops close in the evening, so it's best to visit earlier in the day.
It's a photogenic spot that makes you feel like you've slipped back in time, highly recommended.
