If you're traveling in Japan's Hokuriku region, visiting Takayama Old Town is a must. Located between Toyama and Nagoya, Takayama Old Town offers a quieter atmosphere compared to big cities and preserves a unique Japanese cultural charm. Takayama Jinya is a must-see attraction in Takayama and is the only well-preserved major building from the Edo period in Japan. You can also enjoy local delicacies like Gohei mochi and Hida beef, making it perfect for a day trip or a short getaway of one or two days.
You can reach Takayama by taking the Hida Limited Express from Toyama, which takes about 2.5 hours, or from Nagoya, which takes about 2-3 hours.
🕰️ Opening Hours: 08:45-16:30
🚂 Transportation: A short walk from JR Takayama Station.
