If you're a fan of the anime "Your Name," then Hie Shrine is a must-see when visiting Takayama! Yes, this is the very model for the shrine where Mitsuha draws water in the film.

This historic shrine is one of the inspirations for Miyamizu Shrine, the shrine guarded by the Mitsuha family in the series. Strolling through the vermilion torii gates and the approach to the shrine, you'll feel the mystical atmosphere of the anime.

Hie Shrine's main deity is Oyama Kuinokami, the deity in charge of forests and agriculture. It shares a common origin with Kyoto's Hiyoshi Taisha Shrine. Other smaller shrines within the shrine grounds, such as Fujisha and Inarisha, each enshrine a different deity.
