The Yatagarasu, a messenger of the gods, is a three-legged crow whose symbol can be seen everywhere at Kumano Hongu Taisha.
In Japanese mythology, it is said to have guided Emperor Jimmu from Kumano to Nara, and it has come to be worshipped as the "god of guidance" common to the Kumano Sanzan☺️
A black Yatagarasu postbox has been installed under the sacred Taraha tree in front of the shrine office✨
Black is a sacred color that combines all colors, and it is also the color of the Yatagarasu, the messenger of the gods, and a sacred color that symbolizes the land of Hongu.
The Taraha tree is also called the "postcard tree" or "letter tree"☺️
