The Dahan River in Taoyuan City is a great destination if you want to take a leisurely stroll, experience beautiful nature, culture, and delicious food all in one place.
🏞️ First impressions of Zhongzheng Park
Zhongzheng Park is a city plaza connecting the beautiful Daxi Bridge and Daxi Old Street. Built in 1909 during the Japanese occupation of Taiwan, the park boasts interesting architectural features such as Shinto shrine ruins and a sumo ring.
The park's highlight is its stunning view of the Daxi Bridge and the Dahan River, especially at sunset. You'll see people jogging, running, or relaxing on the benches dotted throughout the park. There's also a children's play area and convenient restrooms.
🌉 Walk across Daxi Bridge
The Daxi Bridge is a must-see landmark. Originally built in 1934, it has been renovated into a beautiful 330-meter white pedestrian bridge. A walk through the bridge at night offers a completely different experience. The bridge is beautifully illuminated by the lights.
🍽️ Sample the delicious food on Daxi Old Street
After descending from Zhongzheng Park via the stairs or ramp, you'll find Daxi Old Street. Besides admiring the Baroque architecture, another main reason people come here is the food, especially the Daxi dried tofu.
Uncle's Braised Tofu: This shop has been open for nearly 60 years. Recommended dishes include braised tofu skin, steamed eggs, and seaweed, all stewed in a special sauce.
Tsai Peanut Candy: This traditional Taiwanese dessert is hand-kneaded and soft, easy to eat, and not too sweet.
A Zong Taro Ice: Taro ice cream wrapped in a thin crepe, topped with crushed peanuts and coriander, for a refreshing, sweet, and unique flavor.
⛩️ Stop by to pray at Furen Temple.
Not far from Daxi Old Street You can also visit Furen Temple, an ancient temple built in 1813. Its interior is decorated with a wealth of colorful artwork and sculptures.
