【Must-Visit Spots on Maria Island】
Fossil Cliffs & Fossil Bay
It feels like stepping into a fairy tale land with shimmering sea in the distance, vast grasslands in front of you, and kangaroos and wombats grazing on the grass, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
Painted Cliffs
Admire the natural wonders with layered seaside cliffs. It is recommended to visit during low tide to see the more complete and stunning scenery.
Brickfields Valley
If you want to encounter wombats, this is the place to be. You can see groups of chubby wombats strolling on the wide grasslands by the roadside. Feel free to take lots of photos, but please do not feed them.
Darlington Bay
A natural tunnel formed by two rows of towering trees. On sunny days, sunlight filters through the gaps, creating a beautiful scene. This path leads to another gathering place for wombats.
【Hiking Routes】
📣 Although bicycles can be rented on the island, the road conditions are not very friendly, so hiking is recommended.
✅ Recommended route: Disembark → Fossil Cliffs & Fossil Bay → Brickfields Valley → Darlington Bay → Painted Cliffs
💡 Highlights: Follow the route clockwise after disembarking to see the coastline, cliffs, and grasslands. Return the same way to catch the return ferry and visit almost all the essential spots on the island.
【Accommodation】
🔹 There are no hotels on Maria Island. If you want to stay overnight, you can camp in designated camping areas.
🔹 The camping area has public kitchens, washbasins, stoves, and complete toilet and shower facilities.
【Some Tips】
🔵 Maria Island is a pristine island with no shops, so it is recommended to bring your own food and water.
🔵 The signal on the island is poor, so it is advisable to download offline maps before arriving.
