Lake Shirakaba

Lake Shirakaba, nestled between Mount Kirignomine and Mount Tateshina, offers pedal boats and is surrounded by ski resorts, golf courses, and other recreational facilities. It's also a great place to enjoy a drive along National Highway 152 or the Venus Highway.

Shirakaba Pond is surrounded by restaurants, and it feels like a popular destination. Next door is the Ikenotaira Family Land amusement park, featuring a Ferris wheel and roller coaster. There's also a large Lawson convenience store. I bought some ready-to-eat food and ate in the outdoor seating area. I strolled around the lake and fed the fish. I was surprised to discover that the fish feed was packaged in an edible and eco-friendly packaging, similar to a cookie box. After feeding the fish, you can simply break the shells off the pellets and throw them back to the fish, eliminating any waste. The amusement park entrance fee is quite high, and it's a one-ticket-all-you-can-do experience.
