Bird Watch Tower Ultra-modern building in Queen Sirikit Park, Bangkok

#JanuaryGoodPlaces2025

A standard off-the-beaten-path attraction, I only visited here because of the interesting architecture.

In #Queen Sirikit Park, there is a towering steel hollow building, like a bird cage-like Bird Watch Tower. People are locked in the tower and watch birds through the gaps? Quite interesting logic.

The five-story iron cage-like appearance is quite eye-catching. There is a U-shaped staircase in the middle. Looking up from the bottom, the angle of the picture presented is very special. It reminds me of the works of #KengoKuma, who is also good at using layers of edges and corners to create a special perspective.

You can climb up, but it is not recommended. Besides your legs shaking, the view from up there is not much better. You can't see any birds at all. On the contrary, the upward angle from bottom to top can produce more powerful pictures. There is sunshine during the day and lights at night, both are good for taking pictures.

The three adjacent parks are connected together to form a large park green space above #Chatuchak Market. It is also the view from the hotel where I stayed. It is very suitable for jogging and cycling.

Parks in Thailand are very different from those in Taiwan. They have walls and limited opening hours, unlike Taiwan where most parks are open 24 hours a day. The entrances and exits are quite long and walking is quite tiring.
