🏰 A view of time from the top of Uchisar, Cappadocia, Turkey

#TravelGuide

Uçhisar is the highest town in Cappadocia. Its symbol is undoubtedly Uçhisar Castle. From a distance, it looks like a massive rock formation, but up close, you can see it's a natural fortress, dotted with countless caves and holes. Carved by wind and time, its shape is truly mystical.

As I slowly ascended to the top of the castle, small shops and cafes lined the stone walls, charmingly lining the paths. The scenery changed at every turn, making me stop and admire the scenery. Upon reaching the summit, a breathtaking panoramic view awaited me. The panoramic view of Göreme Valley, Pigeon Valley, and even Mount Erciyes in the distance was truly breathtaking. At sunset, the sky turned orange, the rocky terrain sparkled with gold, and for that moment, time seemed to stand still.

Uchisar is a much quieter town than Göreme, the heart of Cappadocia, and offers a glimpse into the local life. Staying in a cave lodge, you can immediately see hot air balloons rising from your window in the morning. The rustic restaurants around the castle are perfect for a leisurely meal. The lack of crowds allowed for a truly relaxing experience.

From atop a windswept hill, gazing at the fiery sunset, I felt like I was truly at the heart of Cappadocia. Uchisar, standing serenely amidst magnificent nature, was the perfect place to calmly conclude my trip.
