The Former Site of the CPC Xiang District Committee

is located in Qingshuitang, Chengdong, Changsha. At that time, it was a remote suburb outside the city with a quiet environment.
In July 1921, after attending the First National Congress of the Communist Party of China, Mao Zedong and He Shuheng returned to Changsha and actively carried out party and league building activities. On October 10 of the same year, the CPC Hunan Branch was established.
Around May 1922, the CPC Xiang District Committee was established (Xiang District covered the entire present-day Hunan Province and the Pingxiang area of Jiangxi Province), with Mao Zedong serving as secretary and He Shuheng and others as leading members. Mao Zedong, as a teacher at Hunan First Normal School, rented a house at No. 22 Qingshuitang, which became the location of the district committee office. Mao Zedong lived and worked here with his wife Yang Kaihui. Liu Shaoqi, Li Lisan, Li Weihan, and others also came here for meetings and coordination to carry out revolutionary struggles in the Xiang District.
