From Kunming, head all the way west, not only can you go to Dali, but you can also unlock the treasure town of western Yunnan. This route is less crowded, beautiful and delicious. Friends who like coffee should not miss it! Share our family of three travel tips ~
▪Transportation: Self-drive
▪ Tour route: Kunming—Dali—Baoshan—Tengchong—Mangshi—Ruili—Baoshan—Kunming
👨👩👧Our itinerary:
Day 1: Kunming-Dali
The whole journey is 4 hours, staying in Dali City. I have been to Dali many times, this time mainly to western Yunnan, to rest here.
Day 2: Dali-Baoshan
The whole journey is 2 hours, staying near Baoshan Airport.
▫️ Attractions: Tsing Lung Street. A quaint tourist street with short alleys. After walking, go to Beaton Coffee for a cup of coffee and some snacks.
Day 3: Baoshan—Hushe Coffee Manor—Tengchong
The whole journey is 2 hours, staying near the ancient town of Heshun.
Baoshan is the largest production area of small grain coffee in Yunnan. There are several coffee estates in the surrounding area, Biton Coffee/Huke Coffee/Xinzhai Village Coffee Estate, all in a small town, which is located in the middle of Baoshan and Tengchong.
▫️ Attractions: Hu Shell Coffee Manor. Halfway up the hillside of Gaoligong Mountain, the price of coffee is almost the same as the market price, 30 dollars a cup.
Day 4: Teng Chong
▫️ Attractions: Heshun Ancient Town
Day 5: Tengchong—Mangshi
The whole journey is 1.5 hours, staying in the ancient town of Dai ethnic group.
▫️ Attractions: Dai Ancient Town / Mang Apricot Village to eat barbecue
Day 6: Mangshi
I didn’t go to the sights, so I ate, drank and walked in the city.
Day 7: Mangshi—Ruili
The whole journey is 1.5 hours, staying in Ruili city.
▫️ Attractions:
The City of Treasures (Of course you should visit the Jewelry City when you come to the Emerald City)
Jiegao Port (one of the ports in China and Myanmar, with few shops and not many people)
Day 8: Ruili—Baoshan
The whole journey is 3 hours. Stay at Baoshan Qinghua Haiguan Room Garden Hotel, the room has a hot spring pool, the hot spring water is real sulfur water, very good value for money.
Day 9: Baoshan-Kunming
Return to Kunming! The whole journey is 6 hours.
[Cutlery] Food Recommendations:
▫️Dali
Weishan rake meat bait thread (bait thread soft and glutinous, rake meat fresh and fragrant)
▫️Baoshan
Banqiao Lao Jiu Restaurant (recommended thin bean powder)
Liyuan Copper Scoop Beef (I like dry pot, good food and cheap portions!)
▫️ Teng Chong
My mother's barbecue rice noodles
Yun Mei Hin (Specialty Dishes: Big Rescue Drive, Big Flakes)
▫️Mangshi
(Burmese snacks, I like oil noodles, dumplings)
Monet Gardens
Hing Ming BBQ (Mango Kwun Tong)
staycool Ah drinking coffee (idyllic scenery is super healing)
Cloud Sail Coffee (I like to drink dirty with closed eyes, the best dirty I've ever had!)
▫️ Ruili
Manderi Restaurant (Burmese style light meal, good beautiful rice. Red Bull American super refreshing 🌝)
❗Tips:
▫ High speed all the way, good road conditions, more bends.
▫ Bring mosquito repellent! Be sure to spray mosquito repellent or apply mosquito repellent cream when you go out.
▫ Bring your ID card, Mangshi and Ruili border checkpoints may check.
▫️ Mango City casually ate two breakfasts are good! No need to queue up at celebrity breakfast shops. The same goes for Mango Apricot BBQ Village.
▫️ Personally, I think the hot spring hotel in Baoshan is better and more cost-effective than the one in Tengchong.
