Tiger Cave Temple in Krabi – a million steps and a stunning view 🚶😍 ⠀
⠀
I've been planning to write about this temple for a long time. Tiger Cave Temple is one of the most famous attractions in Krabi, and I highly recommend it. And if you're in reasonable physical condition, you can explore all three of this attraction's locations at once. Besides the seated Buddha at the very top of the mountain, there's also a temple in a cave below and a lost world with a monk settlement that's easy to miss. ⠀
⠀
The main thing, of course, is climbing the stairs to the very top of the mountain, where there's a place of enlightenment, with a seated Buddha and a small pagoda (Khao Kaeo Ao Look Thano). The sign at the base of the mountain says there are 1,237 steps, but in reality, there are 1,260 😳, and I'll tell you why. Along the way, we came across a section where the old staircase had been replaced with a new one. The old steps were half a meter high, terrifying to look at, but the new ones were made with more humane steps, 10-15 centimeters high, and it was this replacement that changed the overall number of steps.
1260 steps to heaven😵. People start the climb briskly, but soon begin to suspect something is wrong. You quickly begin to understand why everyone is so exhausted on the way back. By the middle of the climb, you begin to dearly love the railings😄. But we made it and reached the very top.
⠀
I recommend climbing this temple either at sunrise or sunset; the view from the summit is panoramic, so it's equally suitable for both. So, if you have such a serious goal, I highly recommend this peak.
The climb takes on average 1.5-2 hours, depending on your physical fitness and the amount of rest you need. We climbed up in an hour and a half at a moderate pace. The descent was twice as fast. At the top, you'll need a little more time to admire the views and take photos.
Be careful when climbing—there are a lot of monkeys🐒, both below and during the climb. They can easily snatch food or a bag/wallet from your hands. ⠀
⠀
So, would you be able to handle the 1,260 steps?
