People’s Park 🍵

We were there on a heavy summer afternoon, when People’s Park seemed to move at the pace of the heat itself. Beneath towering shade trees, locals settled into bamboo chairs, their conversations drifting lazily over the soft clack of mahjong tiles. We sipped fragrant jasmine tea from clay cups, the kind that stays warm even as time stretches on. The lotus pond nearby was a slow shimmer of green and pink, while cicadas kept up their endless chorus. It felt like the whole city had come here just to pause for a while. ☀️🍃

As the sun dipped lower, we wandered along the winding paths, the air growing softer, touched by the glow of hanging lanterns. A street musician played the erhu, its delicate notes slipping between the trees, while the smell of grilled skewers and sweet hawthorn candy led us to small food stalls. We watched families paddle across the water and couples sit quietly, sharing the same view of the evening settling in. Even the breeze felt unhurried, as if summer itself refused to leave just yet. 🌸🏮
